Wanderer re-imagines ‘the return home’ embodied by military personnel engaged in the ten-plus year conflict in the Middle East as part of a long narrative of our country’s military history. Using archival audiovisual materials and the exploration of classical texts such as Homer’s The Odyssey, Tennyson’s Ulysses, and the War Poets, 3rd Law investigates the chilling relevance of reoccurring historical themes that whisper truths we strain to hear. Movement, video, spoken word, soundscape and scene give a three dimensional view on ‘those who wait’ — the partners, children and families of the wanderers who are forever changed by proximity to perilous situations.
Wanderer was sponsored by The Dairy Center for the Arts for ‘Veterans Speak’, a two-week event at The Dairy in honor of Veterans.
